Adding an Access Connector and Directory

As always check the VMware documentation for Pre-reqs and best practice for sizing etc as I will be fast and loose with both in this example as this is for a home lab and is to be used as a visual aid not a source of truth, with that out the way, lets jump in.

Head over to the resource portal and grab the Access connector download.

Log into Access and head over to the connectors page under setup in the Identity and Access Management tab, Based on your use case you have a couple options, if you plan to use virtual apps via Horizon or Citrix you will need to use the legacy connector type so insure a supported connector is download

Lets set up a non legacy connector. Add connector, save the config file and set a password:

Run the installer, Note the machine my connector is installed on is not domain joined so Kerberos Auth will not be supported so needs to have the feature deselected, you will need to add missing required components, browse the config file and provide the password:

Running Default options here, select custom for Proxy and Syslog server as well as uploading cert.

Ready to install, and installer finished:

Head back over to Access and refresh the connector page and it should come back green.

Done, time to add a directory to validate.

Pretty much go with most of the defaults here as it's a home lab with nothing complex going on, please note in this example I have no valid test users so the sync will fail and show missing attributes but this will confirm the connector is functioning

As noted we see a errors in the sync log but related to missing attributes.
